If , for some reason that you do get denied, call their cc approval dept and ask for a reconsideration. In August, I applied online and was denied about two hours later. I called the referenced phone number and happened to get lucky as I asked to speak to a credit analyst and she stated that their committee that reviews recon requests was meeting the following Thurs. I received an email requesting that I send income verification, and the following Friday they approved my for a card. It is only 500 limit, but the interest rate is just 9.75 %. Totally worth the extra steps as that particular card has CL's that go from 500 to 20,000... so suffice it to say that it will likely be growing with me.
*****Update*****
Hello all, called Chase Recon number. Took 5 mins and got approved for $2K for Chase Freedom.
Did the same for Delta AMEX, they told me to call back in 2 days and check the status.
Thanks to all that provided me with information.
woohoo!
That is awesome! Congrats!!!
It's a great card.
GL on the Delta card!!
@Anonymous wrote:Thanks for all the responses and guidance. I really appreciate it. I will make an attempt, but will keep an eye on the number of INQs.
I'm apart of a CU, so I am waiting to hear back from their CC approval dept.
Yes, it's possible that my scores are approximations. I know my equifax/experian is accurate.
I would definitely keep an eye on the INQs, manage utilization -- as you'll read around this forum all CC should report 0 and one should report 1-9% of CL --
and above all you should start from less ambitious cards. What you have applied for are some of the most difficult cards to get!
*** just saw update - OK, forget everything I wrote! ***
Yea, didnt think I was,I've been working pretty hard to get & keep my credit clean.
Threw into another post that I got approved for a Navy Federal for $15K. I applied for a Delta AMEX and CITI AA,
but I'm done with applying after getting the news from NFCU.
Don't read too much into denial reasons.
I have less revolving accounts than you and very likely a much lower income than yours and I got approved for Chase Freedom. My score at the time, however, was 725.
There's a lot you can do to improve how you look to CCC's and other lenders, but it isn't always wise to focus on what they say is wrong. In your case, for example, Chase still probably won't approve you if you add 5 CCs today and re-app Freedom tomorrow.
