Was going to say..!
I think my QS came in a week; plus it's only $500 spend for the QS, that was easily obtained for me in less than a month and I'm a low spender! I agree that it might harder for $3k+ spend but if the card comes quickly, shouldn't be that bad.
I believe I have the same max payment for my utility bills. The normal monthly expenses I use my cards for are food, gas and utilities. Those total to about $800.00. I'm going to concentrate on the QuickSilver first to meet that $500. requirement then to the Venture. Worst case is I can use Plastiq to take care of the rest of my spending if I come up short.
I've only used AMEX's Delta Skymiles cards for travel rewards. Most of those flights have require 40K-50K miles. Looking at info for the Venture card, it says - Just multiply your transaction amount by 100 to see the number of miles needed to redeem. ex. $180 ticket x 100 = 18,000 miles needed. So that might work pretty good. I won't be limited to Delta so I can shop for better fares though other airlines. Between the miles that I rack up using the card and the bonus miles, that could be good for 2-3 flights. Seems to be a good deal!
@masscredit wrote:The drwaback is, the clock starts when your approved for the card. So you lose about a week of spending to obtain those rewards. I think the offers are good, especially the $100.00 bonus. But the clocks should start when the cards are activated. I chatted with a Cap1 rep to confirm this.
As other have said, all cards do this AFAIK. It's up to the individual to determine that spend requirements can be met. If a week makes it impossible then you've applied for too much.
My cards arrived today which is a week after I was approved. Time to focus my spending on them and collect some rewards!
I was wondering if making a paypal payment to someone would count.
I have two paypal accounts and if sending a payment to myself using Capital One Venture
would count in geting the 40,000 bonus miles by spending 3,000.00 in purchases in 90 days?

PayPal balance or bank account Free when sending money inside the US
Debit/credit card fee 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction (the sender decides who pays this fee)
Outside the US 0% to 2% fee when fully funded with your bank account or PayPal balance or 2.9% to 5.99% plus a fixed fee based on the payment currency if paying with a credit or debit card
This will be my "backup" if I get close to the end of 90 days without meeting the spending requirement - https://www.plastiq.com
Yeah, I'll eat 2.5% which will only be about $20.00 but I'll gain 1-2 free flights.
