OP, did you try and PC that Cap One card to a no AF card? I can't imagine giving up a 10 year card.
Of course I did.... As for giving up a 10 year card. It will not hurt my AAoA and will still report for 10 years. I didn't loose anything but about $100 a year in fees. To me that makes too much cents... Only kept it open because I thought closing it would chop my AAoA down.
@NRB525 wrote:Plenty of others on here have gone through the same issues, thus the general opinion that CapOne cards are definitely in specific customer tiers. If you want to break out of the tier they assigned you to 10 years ago when you were just starting out, app for a new card like the Quicksilver no AF card.
Given your long history, I am totally sincere and certain you will get a new, much higher CL, and be pleasantly surprised. CapOne is an excellent balance of low fees (no AF, no FTF, no BT Fees) and decent rewards, once you get out of the starter tiers.
Couldn't agree more. I understand why OP is frustrated now. They sure did dick him around. IMO, that's the only major downside with Cap One, is that sometimes your account just gets stuck in a bad spot and their CS (which is sometime excellent, often poor) can't really do anything about it.
Quicksilver is such a good card, especially with the no BT fee's or FTF's. Although you already have the NFCU at 1.5%, Cap One QS will likely give you a much better limit than Discover's funny little toy limit.

The OP stated they tried to get a product change to 0 AF.
I would NOT apply for the no-AFQS either for a great CL. Id go for a venture and then PC it a year later.
Curiosity now!!! Why the Venture?

I'm agnostic about which CapOne card, but OP, you need to app for another real CC from CapOne.

I will definitely consider it after reading these comments. I just don't see a reason for another cash back card since I have 3, 2 of which have 5% rotating categories. Do milages cards ever loose there miles?
