You have to remove the locks and freeze when you go to check for a prequal because they do a SP on one or more bureaus and can’t do it if you have a lock or freeze.

Thank you. I believe I have to call to remove the freeze from Ex. The lick on TU and EQ are done instantly from an app.
-Thank you
You can actually manage your freeze on Experian online, I do it all the time, it’s just a bit weird.
https://www.experian.com/ncaconline/removefreeze
Fill out that form with your information and PIN then pick the dates you want your freeze temporarily lifted (if you do the permanent lift you’ll have to add a freeze all over again - the lift will have Experian do it automatically) and it takes effect pretty much immediately.

You’re welcome!
I freeze all three. Transunion has an app you can download, Equifax has the My Equifax site, Experian just has the form because they want you to pay for their credit monitoring to get access to credit locks.
Keep in mind, only security freezes are legally mandated and often using a lock if you read the terms, they force arbitration and other unfavorable terms on you for it and also while you can take your PIN and call a number to lift a freeze with any of the three bureaus, if you have an issue managing your lock you can be stuck until they fix the technical issue. Since I have had to deal with both Transunion and Equifax’s websites refusing to let me manage my freeze and had to call the numbers and use my PIN, I would never use a lock instead.
Good information... thanks!

Ohhh WoW!! I didnt know that. I knew that disbuting online came with its fair share of fine print but apparently, so does locking your report vs freezing them. It's so much red tape. ughh
Thank you for sharing these great tid=bits.
