PC Delta Amex to.......SPG?

Hey everyone,
So I'm currently holding the Platinum Delta Amex since I fly Delta almost exclusively. I've made the decision to explore other airline options, due to a pending relocation to an area which is not a Delta hub.

I'm wondering if I could PC my delta Amex to the SPG card. I typically stay in Marriott's and Westin's and this card would really benefit me in that regard.

At the same time, I have no interest in applying for new credit. So if I can't PC, I will not apply for a new SPG.

Has anyone done this PC before? I've heard it's possible from some people, and not possible from others.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

Re: PC Delta Amex to.......SPG?

For several years, the official Amex policy was that cobrand cards could only be PCed to other cards within the cobrand family. However, it was not a widely enforced policy.

Within the last year or two, they have been enforcing it more strictly.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU

Re: PC Delta Amex to.......SPG?

If I apply and am an existing Amex card holder, what are the chances it'll be an SP, and not an HP?

Re: PC Delta Amex to.......SPG?

From my understanding it will be a soft pull. My PRG from December is not showing up on my Credit Karma but I know that's not a complete picture of my credit score.

Should I unfreeze my reports before apping?

Just to let you know that there is no way a HP from an American Express application will appear on CK.  They only give reports for TU and EQ, not Experian which Amex exclusively pulls.  More than likely you did receive a HP and just dont know.  While there have been some cases lately of people getting approved for a new Amex and not getting a HP, the vast majority of applications that result in an approval will get a HP.. If you're denied, then usually it will be  a SP but even that 'rule' isn't 100%

Also, it's useful to know that there's a free app that you can download to monitor your experian acivities, including any experian HPs.

Just use your phone to search for "experian." It even gives you a free report every week or so I think.

Yes, unfreeze EX.

And it will be a HP, because you will get the SPG.

Apping the SPG also gets you the bonus Starpoints.

Enjoy!

Do you have Medallion status on Delta? Have you joined SPG yet to get the Crossover points?
