Re: PC QS1 to QS

They're still being stubborn with me. It's been over a year now. At least I was able to waive the AF for 12 months. Congrats.

Re: PC QS1 to QS

Almost 10 years. I had 3 Cap 1 cards. One was an old HSBC from when my credit was not good after BK. I combined all of them and had to wait to PC, Still upset that the PreQual I had last week turned out in denial. (Only denial in my app spree.)

The Cap1 QS1 is a Mastercard and if you PC it to a QS it will still be a Mastercard because Cap1 doesn't change Mastercards to Visas and Viceversa, This is 1 of the reasons why i tell people to apply for a Cap1 Journey Visa instead of the QS1 because the Journey Visa has the same Credit requirements as the QS1 and you don't have to be a Student to get it plus it has NO Annual fee, 1.25% Cash Rewards and is already a Visa so when you decide to PC it for a QS then it will look like a normal QS Visa, Anyways Congrats!...Smiley Wink

Thanks AL....Not worried about Visa vs MC. Just wanted to get rid of AF. Still kinda ticked about being denied last week when my app spree was really good.

Heads up- Quicksilver Cards are slowing turning into MasterCards. There is a thread about this. If you apply for a Venture or Quicksilver card from an affiliate site it will be a World Elite MasterCard.

American Express: Platinum Charge, Optima, Business Gold, Delta Business Reserve, Business Cash, Business Plus
Barclays: Arrival+ WEMC (Closed)
Capital One: Savor WEMC, Venture X Visa Infinite
Chase: Freedom U Visa Signature, CSR Visa Infinite
Citibank: AAdvantage Platinum WEMC
Elan/US Bank: Fidelity Visa Signature
Credit Union: Cash Back Visa Signature
FICO 08: Score decrease between 26-41 points after auto payoff (11.01.21) FICO as of 12.24, EX: 816 / EQ: 825 / TU: 818

Are you referring to KDM's QS WEMC thread? I believe that thread was just to show others who wanted a QS WEMC how to get one, not indicating that Capital One is switching over to mastercards. In fact, I remember a discussion where you can see that capital one separates 'subprime' with 'prime' cards by mastercard and visa. You can see the platinum and qs1 are both mastercard, while venture and qs are visa. I do not think they will be changing over to mastercard at all.

Re: PC QS1 to QS

I have found that Cap One puts people in catagories with glass ceilings.

If ones credit has substantially improved, it is often easier to apply for a new card to get what you want.

I am very happy with cap one, but I had to get like 7 accounts to end up with the two I wanted.

Congrats OP

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!
