PC'd my AAdvantage card, can still use old card (Citi)

I had an AAdvantage Platinum Select through Citi. I did a PC to a Bronze card. My Bronze card works fine, and my online account appears changed to the Bronze card #. However, I can still use my old Platinum Select card; the old number still works online. The charges do get posted to my Bronze account, but I'm slightly nervous about my old number still working and having two numbers active for this TL.

Thoughts? Is this normal? The account conversion has already taken place and I've already activated my new card over a week ago.

I'd call citi and ask them for an answer.

I did, and they said it could be typical They said it may take 10 days after activation of my new card for swiping to stop working, and 14 days until the number is disabled alltogether. I activated the new card on 09/01, so I guess I'll check again on 09/15 or so if the old card still works.

I had no idea they had the bronze card. How much is the AF?

No, I believe that's Gold. Bronze is $0 AF but it's really bad. 0.5 miles per dollar, no baggage or anything. I'm just keeping it as it's one of my oldest cards Smiley Happy

Never heard of the bronze card. Was this your only PC option for the AA platinum?

No I specifically asked for it. I've heard I could have gotten other cards but really, this is gonna be a sock-drawer card and didn't want a fee on it. I'm able to maintain status on AA so didn't really need it, plus most of my spend is on TYP cards/CSP now.

Welp. It's been over 14 days since I activated the new card, but I was still able to use the old card # online.

I'm not TOO concerned since at least the charges show up on my new account # online so I can see if there are rogue transactions, but still, I don't like loose threads. Guess I'll try Twitter next!

Call them again, this sounds pretty weird. It shouldn't be working by now.
