Has anyone tried and succeeded? The rep I talked to said it's impossible.
The agent would be correct, at least in this specific instance. While Capital One tends to change the payment processing networks invariably for some of their cards (e.g. product refreshes), it is not something that can be requested.
Unfortunate, but expected. I was hoping the PC would be possible so I can apply for the PenFed Power Cash (Visa). This, paired with my seasoned QS, would've been my preferred no-FTF set-up. I did apply for the Citizens Bank Cash Back Plus (MC) under the assumption that this particular PC was indeed a no-go. If approved, then I think it'll be a decent pair: a QS as a 1.5% cashback Visa and a Cash Back Plus as a 1.8% cashback MC. Thanks, @FinStar!
Cap One will PC Cards but not networks.
Platinum to QuickSilver to Venture.
MC to WMC to WEMC.
But not Visa to MC or vice versa.

Heads up- BofA does accommodate these network change requests. Found out tonight.
