Just making plans for when this secured card *hopefully* graduates.
Anyone think it would be an issue to PC to the mastercard shell?
My WFH ends next year and will be purcashing gas more than once per month *tear*
Not too much interested in their other cards except the Custom Cash but my card won't meet the minimum SL.
Thanks.
Unfortunately, that is not an option.
Citi legacy cards cannot be PC'd to Citi Retail products (and viceversa). You'd have to apply for it separately. The same applies to cards like Best Buy Visa, Sears MC, Wayfair MC, Meijer MC, etc.

Oooh ok! Thanks for the info.
Do you know if the legacy cards also have $500 min SL like Custom Cash? I only put $300 on this secured. Otherwise it'll have to stay DP.

Sure, no problem.
It's a quirky rule since they are separately managed divisions.
So, yes, some legacy cards can have limits as low as $500, like Double Cash or Custom Cash for example. Then again, how does your profile look at the moment? How long have you had your Citi secured card? Have you been approved for several new accounts in the past six months?
I also see that you have the NAVY More Rewards card. That yields 3x points on gas. Also, which Discover card is that on your signature?
Citi approved jan 2020. Didn't graduate after 18m, they added another 12m. Set to graduate now July 2022. So I have plenty of time to ponder all this.
5 new accounts in 2021. I'm committed to the garden now.
The Discover is discover IT with the rotating cats.
Scores def improved since CITI approved, nearly 100 points but still lower than they'd like. Two CO left to settle around $3k, hoping to knock out at tax refund time.

Ok, thanks for the additional details and sounds like your're on the right track given the recent score improvements.
So, it appears your Citi secured card fell into the longer 'purgatory' as some have experienced, which can be very frustrating. On the plus side, you have the More Rewards AmEx (if you want to use it for gas) or Discover which features the gas category during 2Q22.
On the longer horizon, you could eventually apply for the Shell card, but sometimes with Citi being Citi, you could end up with the retail version vs the MC (if that matters to you) -- it would just depend on your profile and things at that point. Then again, if you wait until your most recent or newest account ages around 9-12 months, you could potentially apply for Custom Cash (or another CC that can meet your needs) without having to wait on the graduation timeframe. It would be a longshot but something to consider.
Thank you.
yes that was the plan if I couldn't PC.
Use MR for 3x or Apple Cash for 2% (3% if I choose EXXON). Shell chevron and Exxon are all abundant where I live but I refuse to get another Sync card.
I wouldn't mind the non MC version for shell at all. But I 100% want to PC the Diamond P as it has zero benefits. I hope for an eventual limit increase and subsequent PC afterwards.

Sounds like you have a good plan going forward.
Are you sure you don't want another SYNCB card? Like BP, for example? 😂 j/k The Exxon/Mobil card is also underwritten by Citi Retail btw -- it's no longer issued as MC anymore (it used to be eons ago).
I'm fairly sure you can PC the Citi secured card once it graduates since I've read some DPs from other members.
@FinStar Thank you so much. This helped tons
