PENFED CC...

Hello,

Im looking at getting more revolving credit in my credit report! I only have one credit card

with 1st financial bank ($3,000 CL) and I have asked for a CLI from them with out pulling

my credit report which Im sure will be a hard pull and they are not willing to work with me

since my payment history is Flawless with them! So, I checked out my local credit union

and all their cards are usually under $2,000 CL which is WAY under what Im looking for

at this time. I have herd so much good things about Penfed and am looking for advice on

how to join them since I dont know anyone in the Army etc. and which credit card would

suit best for my needs! Im just looking for what ever possible advise (good or bad) would be

very nice of you! Thanks again and have a wonderful day...

Re: PENFED CC...

Justin, you might want to check out txjohn's excellent Penfed survey/app results thread for some info on which of our members have been approved and denied, and based on what info.

You also might do a search on Penfed on here, and read through some of the resulting threads that turn up (should be loads), as a lot of information can be found that way.

If after reading, you decide you're in good shape to try apping with them, then the easiest way for you to get in with PenFed under your circumstances is by joining the National Military Families organization ($20.00 to join up, I think, plus $5.00 dep. to open your 'share account' - should be a link on PenFed's website showing various organizations that are member organizations, and the NMF one should be on the list).

Hope this helps a bit - definitely do that search for them and read through the results before you apply!

Good luck.

Re: PENFED CC...

I open an account about less than a month ago with a hard inquiry and based on information in this forum that hard pull is good for 60 days which prompt me to apply for a credit card and an auto refinance. First I was approved for the credit card with 3000 credit limit but conditionally approved for the auto loan @1.49%. I tried to do a recon and increase my credit limit to 6000 but in the end I got approved only for the auto loan but was denied out right for the credit card. To be honest I think they are a fantastic lender but ARE very very conservative and some what old school. My income is 25000 and I have 1 % utilization with no baddies on my credit report except about 9 recent inquiries going far back as Jan, 2011. I spoke to a manager regarding the auto refinance and credit card and was told once I have some relationship established with them they will reconsider me for more products. I don't have any family member in the military nor am I in the military but I am a Happy Camper with Penfed.
