Well it has been a very long road for me but I finally have done what I set out to do well over a year ago. Got all my baddies off my CR's by every known method possible, with the help of many people here. Got my lovely sister to add me as an AU on her Costco and regular Gold AMEX's for her 1987 AAofA. Got my UTI down to like 6% (somehow)... Got all three CRA's reporting exactly the same info (again, somehow, by hook and by crook) so all three scores were like 800ish. And now I pulled the trigger in my final move before gardening and putting away my stack of CMRRR's and stamps, which is apping for the PRG and BCP AMEX cards and getting only one INQ on my EX report. The reasons I wanted these two cards are numerous but manly because I had a Platinum and an Optima card from 1986 that I closed stupidly in 2001, so I will get 26 years x 2 of AAofA. In my case it will add like 3.5 years or so to my overall AAofA across all three CRA's
It has been such a long time in coming that I actually can't remember where to get the telephone number to call to get my CL on the BCP... I read so many threads about this and am just blanking on it. Just did a quick search here to no avail, can someone help a giddy brother out with this issue???
A lot of people here seem to have done the same "double app, single inquiry" move in the late summer and fall, and the info contained in those posts helped me a great deal for me (and my family) getting where I am today. This board has been a very, very good resource for me to do things that I never thought possble!!! Thanks to all here...
Recap:
EX score is 800 FAKO from USAA, my FICO scores from here at myfico are 815 and 810 for EQ and TU respectively. I hope to get my EX score with my approval letter from AMEX but AFAIK, most times when you get it from them it means that you did not get the best APR, so in a way I hope not to get it I suppose...
Did the apps consecutively with two different browers in a space of about 10 minutes, instant approval each time, checked my EX afterward and it only shows a single INQ...
Put down my exact income in case of the FR issue

Thanks to everyone here for all the help!!!!
Sweet!!
Wow ! Congrats on the double AMEX approval & massive backing win !! That is awesome !
And way to go with your FICO score ~ its always great to hear success stories like this !
Congrats !!
Congrats, what a great story! Just curious, is there a reason why you chose to go with PRG and BCP? It seems like they overlap on the rewards you would use them for the most - gas and groceries and the AFs aren't exactly cheap.

Up until last month my two old cards were showing up on my EX, giving me 25x2 years of extraAAofA added to the total. Then they dropped off (closed cards can remain on your CR for 10 years, mine did that exactly) and my EX score (FAKO) took a hit. I always just wanted to get that not missing AAofA back and THEN ALSO get it added on my EQ and TU AAofA totals... So my plan was always to get 2 cards again from AMEX.
That PRG is a charge card and BCP is a credit card is the short answer as to why these two cards in particular. Word on the myfico street is that the BCP AF of $75 is very easy to recoup and whilst the PRG $175 fee is pricy, I want a credit card where I can bang out some major plane tickets for work on and not have to worry about the total. (too much) I can always PC down to a reg Gold or Green or Zync (all of them charge cards) if next year I feel the $175 is not worth it
So in the end, I wanted to thicken my file, increase my AAofA across the board and hopefully increase my Cl with a good CL on the BCP... The actual using of the cards was not my goal although obviously I will use them...
BTW, I still can't find the number to call to find out my CL on the BCP and do I need to wait until Monday to do so????

Mr Winstars...
Many congratulations on your approvals! As you know I have been following your progress over the past few months and have watched you overcome a lot of hurdles to get to this point. It has indeed been a long hard road but it just goes to show that with knowledge comes power, and it definately doesnt hurt to make a few friends along the way! Welcome back to American Express my friend, very much well deserved!
Edit: Try calling 1-888-258-3741 for your CL...
If the above # doesn't work, I called the general CS line and they were able to help me when I was approved: 1-800-528-4800
You can also check your approval status/CL here: https://www262.americanexpress.com/eaol/welcome.do
Hope that helps and congrats again!
