PSECU CLI to $20,000

After reading a post by Angel73 that she had requested a CLI from $10k to $20k within the same month of initial approval, I decided to go ahead and follow suit.

APPROVED:  Total CL is now $20,000 which is double my original.  This is what I wanted (their max) but the pre-qualified letter they sent said $10,000 so I didn't ask for more than that..

I still have the theory that PSECU has NFCU-like credit standards, at least for CL's.

For those who can qualify, I HIGHLY recommend this CU.

Congratulations txjohn!

A 50% CLI at that level is beautiful. As the song goes...oh what a feeling!

I so wish I could qualify for PSECU.Smiley Sad Based on what I have read here, your assessment regarding NFCU and PSECU is spot on.

Re: PSECU CLI to $20,000

Congrats! Very impressive! You'll be going back to class in style!

I really have to think very carefully about this. Too bad they're EX pullers, then again I suppose that's the point!

Have they ever asked you for any kind of documentation. I am hearing others say they've gotten from them without supplying anything. If I remember correctly they sent you the invite for the $10K card and all you had to do was say "Yes".

Yes, EX is the point.  It helps distribute some of the INQ's among different CRA's.

Also, as case in point, EX IS MY WORST CR.  Shortest AAoA (only 2 years) and only 13 year oldest account.

They did send me a "pre-qualifed" letter stating that I was pre-qualified to apply for $10,000.  It had a return form, etc.  BUT I WENT ONLINE and just did a normal app, which was approved within 4 hours.

This time, I asked for the CLI at 9:00am and the approval was waiting for me when I checked at 12:30pm, just 3.5 hours later.

I printed out the ACTIVATION/APPROVAL doc, signed and faxed back.  When I got home this afternoon at 4:00pm, the new CL was showing active at $20,000 online all ready!

The original membership is slow.  Takes about 2-3 weeks to get clear through, welcome packet and able to login online.  But from there everything is very fast.

NO, I DID NOT HAVE TO PROVIDE ANY DOCS for income or idenification.

This is how Her Ladyship's process went with PenFed when she took them up on $20K of her $40K pre-app offer. A few hours later the request went to "Approved", the next day "Transmitted" and voila, the screen says $30K. Its so great!

Well EQ is my worst, TU is hot and EX has all the INQ's! Maybe if I start working on my path to membership now I can have everybody else squared away by the time I am ready to app!

I think these CU cards are great. They are so much less likely to mess with you once they are set up. All you have to do is hold up your end of the bargain and pay them!

Re: PSECU CLI to $20,000

So far my favorite CU's are NFCU and PSECU.

I'll be 6 months old at PenFed next month, so maybe they'll move up on the list as I am less "newbie" and have shown 6 months of consistent and reliable use and payments with them and on all credit...

PSECU with the FICO and CL's and credit standards is hard to beat.

PenFed's policy is that they will not consider you for a CLI until your credit card account is at least 12 months old.

txjohn has other concerns. He would like to eat at the grownups table.

Also what you say is not quite true. They gave be a 100% CLI at about two weeks.

LOL!  That's funny....but true.  Smiley Happy

I just have a hard time with PenFed's ultra conservative (aka: poor CS) when compared to NFCU, PSECU, Addison, USAA and others.

The explanation I always got was "that's just our policy to all new members under 6 months."  Which is fine, but its just not competitive when me, the same person, gets a totally different result, experience and service from multiple other CU sources.

I'll keep the $10k card they gave me and use it as a gas/grocery card.  But I have no plans to move any money to PenFed nor to do much of anything else with them.  Possibly an auto loan....but to tell you the truth, it's worth the extra 0.7% to me to use a CU I really enjoy the service and experience.  I just believe in rewarding those businesses whom I appreciate, with my business.  There are many forms of "value" and when it comes to all things considered, I'm willing to pay a little more for better....just like any product or service.

But that's just me....and I know there are die hard PenFed heads (joke Smiley Wink ) who are insulted by the fact I don't sing accolades to PenFed.  But that's the wonderful thing about free enterprise and free choice.  We all get to go where we are happiest and best served, from our own value set.
