Paying for amazon prime with non prime card

I have the Amazon Prime Visa, and am getting close to the time when I will be renewing. I just recently got the Cap One Quicksilver, and was wondering if paying the membership with that would affect the Prime card benefits (e.g. 5% at Amazon).

Yes, I would not get the 5% back for the Prime charge, but that will complete my spend on the QS to get the sign up bonus, and put me back using the 6% BCP on groceries net week. I figure it balances out.

Any thoughts?

That's no problem at all.  Back in the spring I renewed my own Prime with my PRG so I could take advantage of an Amex offer.

Just be sure after the fee hits on your QS to remember to change it back so that next year it will renew on your Amazon Visa (so you'll get the 5%), otherwise it'll renew on your QS next year as well.  Smiley Wink

The Subject made me laugh... thanks.  Smiley Happy  Regarding the various categories: I have no idea, but this seems like a prime time to ask.  The BCP seems like it should be the primary card for groceries, though.  Smiley Happy

Re: Paying for amazon prime with non prime card

How much time do you have left on the Quicksilver SUB?  How much more spend do you need?

The best SUB spend comes in categories where you get far less than 5-6% back.  In other words, only trade 5-6% back for SUBs when you are forced to do so.

Amazon doesn't really care what you pay your prime membership with, as long as you pay for it and have Prime. Just set itas preferred payment, in the Prime settings page.

Re: Paying for amazon prime with non prime card

I've got prime set to renew with my Barclay's Uber card. I gotta hit 5k spend on the card within the year, but I'll get a $50 subscription credit for it.

Hopefully it all goes smoothly.

Do you get 5% back from the amazon prime subscription if you use the chase amazon card to pay for it? I’ve always wondered this

Slightly off topic. Would you trade 4% with Savor or 5% Discover on restaurants to meet a SUB? I can comfortably meet a SUB on one of my cards with essentially non category spend now. I’ve just normally put all spend on one card till the SUB has been met.

I believe you get 5% back on Discover during their Amazon quarter. Can anyone confirm this?
