So I know BOA's autopay system is notoriously cumbersome to set up. However, I am new BoA credit card customer and cannot for the life of me figure out how to set up autopay for the full statement balance each month. My account is a few months old and I did immediately enroll in the eBill statements but the only option I see in autopay is to enter whatever arbitrary number I choose but it doesn't let me select an option to pay whatever my statement balance may be.
Does it take a while for the "eBill" to kick in so that it will allow me to select that in the autopay? Upon googling I saw some instructions that stated there would be a "set up based on the ebill" option when setting up autopay but I do NOT see this option.
Any guidance or help on this would be appreciated, I like the reward perks of this card but this convoluted issue does not give me a good impression of BoA.
I just had a look in my mobile app and give this a try:
1) Open mobile app
2) Click "Bill pay" at the bottom of the screen.
3) Click the "Payee" (aka the card if it's there)
4) Click "add autopay" around the middle of the page
5) Click "based on eBill's amount and due date"
6) On this page do the following
a) select the funding account
b) select the amount - in your case, select "full statement balance" or however much you want to pay. s
c) then choose the deliver by date which can be set anywhere from as soon as the statement cuts, to the actual due date.
Tedious, but it's doable.
The real big mess that Bank of America causes is that there are two different bill pay systems. If you only hold credit cards, you have access to one. If you go on to open a deposit account while you have those cards, BOA will switch you to the second bill pay system while removing your access to the first one. This will cause a few great struggles. 1) All your funding accounts will have to be re-added. 2) Any autopays that you had setup in the 1st bill pay system, will no longer be visible to you in their mobile and web interfaces, but they will still draft from your accounts. You will want to turn off any outstanding autopays before opening their deposit accounts to avoid this issue. Otherwise, this can only be able to be deactivated by calling customer service and finding someone who knows about the fact that there are two bill pay systems. Once they turn it off in the first system, you can go in your app or web and turn it on again via the second bill pay system.

Thanks for your reply! However, that number 5 step is the option I don't have. When I click amount it tellls me to make sure I am at least paying minimum and I can request ebills. However when I tried to request ebills the other day, it told me I already had done this. I might have to try calling customer service.
I don't know if the BoA user interface to do this is this hard because they're inept at designing something better, or if it is intentionally does this way hoping you forget to pay and they get to charge interest. Either way it doesn't shine them in a good light. I have had credit cards with many companies over the years and none of them have made the autopay system this difficult. Like I can't think of any logical reason an "ebill" from BoA itself should be seperate from just your online paperless statement.
Sorry to hear that. That's truly maddening. Is it the same issue on both the mobile app and the web browser?

Yes, both. I think clearly the issue is I am not receiving "ebills" yet for my credit card account, idk if I am stuck in limbo somewhere on that or if I just have to wait a billing cycle or two for it to kick in. Either way, this will probably be my first and only BoA product after dealing with this convoluted process.
For anyone that may stumble upon this and want an answer, just tonight I did get around to calling BoA customer service. It seems like eBills were not turned on (whether or not my original request to have them turned on was properly submitted, idk). The rep was very nice and she submitted a ticket to have ebills sent to me which should allow me to pay the statement balance on autopay each month. For some reason it took her a good 20 minutes to submit the ticket while I was on hold and she came back every 2 mins to let me know she was still working on it. She said in 3-5 business days the ticket should be resolved and I should have access to eBills to pay my statement balance via autopay.
Absolutely hate BOAs confusing e-bill pay. I paid off my account a while ago, logged in some time later and see an ebill that was 35 days late and panicked. It still generates an ebill when the balance is $0. Also, I remember when I'd schedule a payment it wasn't clear to me if I'd done it right or not. Why make it so confusing??

It reflects extremely poorly upon BoA for me. The only two options are that it's intentionally confusing or they are so bad at making UI that they made it that confusing on accident.

I would say it is a bit of both but mostly the first one.
