Paying your credit card bill considered a bill payment?

I'm thinking of opening a citi bank account since where ever I travel there is never a chase. I want to open a basic account and wondering is paying your credit card consider a bill payment so I can avoid the monthly fee?

I don't see why it wouldn't. Especially since CC bills are ACH drafts

Re: Paying your credit card bill considered a bill payment?

If you pay a bill via the billpay service, it is a bill pay. Citi's is super easy. Just type in the card # and that's it.

Paying a CITI credit card with your CITI banking account will not work. I would suggest opening a citigold account for the 40,000 thankyou points bonus and then downgrading once the monthly fees are due.

I've been told by citi CS that ANYTHING that pops up when you use the "add payee" menu (including a popmoney transfer to yourself) will count as a bill pay for either the citigold signup bonus, or for waiving monthly fees with citi basic checking

#doublepost

any option you see in the screenshot above counts as a bill pay.

but you need to pay through the bank account, not on the credit cards payment menu.
