Payment history

Hello. I have read on here about the best ways to raise your credit score by letting only one account show a balance and having it report less than 9%. What if I let more than one account report balances so I could eventually report many on time payments. I have 5 credit cards and usually never reported a balance on any of them until recently when I learned about letting one report. I am not trying to get any new cards anytime soon and am not considering buying a home or anything like that. Do you think that if I let more than one card report a balance just to pay them on time I could eventually tighten up and let only one report and have a higher score? I was just thinking. Excuse the grammar I typed this on my phone.

Thanks

Re: Payment history

As you are not planning to app for anything, you can let your cards report. The balances only affect your scores in that moment, utilization has no memory. Just make sure to follow the above mentioned rule about a month before you plan to app to give the cards time to update to the CRAs.

But with that said, your cards will still report a positive payment history even if they are not reporting a balance. So just use them as you normally would and pay them on time. The rest will fall into place. Smiley Happy

Re: Payment history

Oh wonderful. Did not know that they would still report positively. Thank you!
