I'm not sure why $25.00 minimum redemption is being talked about as a negative.

If it's taking you months of uncategorized spend to reach it, there is a good chance you can do just fine without 2% card.

Some of us just dont make the kind of money that many here do where spending $1500 can be done without losing a wink of sleep.  Having a 2% card is a physiological  win for us . Its not necessarily a negative but why enjoy that threshold of $25 when i can redeem $3 if i want. Sad to say but $3 is huge for me right now so  im definetly gonna use a 2% over a 1.5% even though its not much difference. Heck, same could be said on argument over 3% and 2% cards  in whether the difference really is grand  enough to use. Another topic lol but yeah, im in the boat redemption  matters since it directly relates to my spendSmiley Wink

AJC, it has nothing to do with income, and everything to do with how spend is divided.

If a person already  has 1.5% card, I'm not sure it's worth a new app for everyone, especially if they do not have a lot of non category spend.

If one has a card for groceries, card for gas, and something resembling utilities category, most needs are met right there.

If one doesn't have 1.5% card, then 2% makes complete sense.

I'm also not sure where "that kind of money" is coming from.

I never said anything about "if anyone's income is low(ish), they dont need 2% card".

I specifically said if it takes too long to reach it with  non category  spend, it may not be worth it.

I dont have a 2% card of any kind, and I dont have a horse in this race.

In all of the time I've spent here, I never even typed what my income is, nor do I find it relevant to most topics.

I'm curious about decision making process, and by stating my opinions, i get to hear opposing views, and hopefully learn something new in the process.

Sometimes I don't get people on this forum. Everyone is getting up in arms about being able to cash out $5 whenever they want because minimum redemptions are bad business and an example of banks creating hurdles for reward redemption. But, there's no problem with lenders requiring you to activate 5% categories to get maximum rewards. I guess hurdles for reward redemptions aren't created equal.

It's pretty simple!

a) What matters to you is important, and so obvious it's strange that other people just don't seem to get it.

b) Things that matter less are at most a minor inconvenience and people should just get over it and focus on things that matter, such as a)

Not just this forum, life as well.

As mentioned, the step up from 1.5% to 2% not worth another card in most cases.

A really big SUB is required to sweeten the deal.

Well of course it does, but remember what you were told: when the little people hear that they get jealous and resentful, so best not to mention it too often.

Oh, I get it. It doesn't hurt me to take 20 seconds to activate my 5%, I just find it odd that people look the other way on certain things even when they're similar. A horse of a different color and what not.

For the record, my PlayStation card has a $25 minimum redemption and I haven't been able to redeem it for the last year because I'm a few cents short. Just can't bring myself to use it when I get more back from other cards than what's needed to trigger it.
