Is Penfed always EQ? (That's my good one, haha)
Just opened a share account with them, so prob got the HP anyway... (EQ is looking good right now with no negs, 748 per CCT)
Don't need the card, but if it's all on the same pull and the chances are good...

If you just opened a share account with PenFed, you may as well apply for the card you're interested in as they've pulled your CR and you've got the INQ at least on your EQ now (They pull EQ nearly 99% of the time from what I know, after that it's sometimes EX, rarely). If your MyFico (not fako) score were 748, I'd think you'd have a fairly good chance of getting approved without them even checking other CRA's. Be ready with proof of income though, esp if you ask for a high limit (if you let them pick your limit, your chance of having to provide proof of income may be lower, not sure). If you apply online and get a message about it not being able to complete your application (and or requests you call), call them, they have rather good CSR's in my opinion.
Chances are probably best with:
Low utilization
3 or fewer INQ's
No derogs (as you mentioned)
Fairly long history (5 or more years AAoA)
It won't hurt your report if they say no to a card, you've already got the HP, but if they say yes, you'll be glad you applied.
