Just received notice from PenFed that EV charging (5x), restaurants (3x), and streaming (3x) are now included categories on the Platinum Rewards card:
Although redemption options are still limited for those seeking cash back, the additional categories may be useful for some who like using points.
Out of curiosity, what do those points apply to? I have a PCR card with them, no other card caught my attention due to the point system I'm not really familiar with. Their website is a bit cryptic on what and how to use their points...

I also have a PenFed Platinum Rewards card, and if I recall correctly, the points are good for a wide range of gift cards, and merchandise from certain vendors. I just checked and already have 9,736 points since I got my card in late March; I guess it's time I redeemed them for something.
As for the new categories, looks like I need to switch my streaming services from my Quicksilver card to my Platinum Rewards card.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Remember that points are generally worth less than 1c (about 0.85c). Currently you can buy apple gift cards at 1 point= 1c but that is a short-term exception. So 3 points on dining is more like 2.54%, so certainly an improvement that dining is added, but many of us have cards that give more

Yup, well aware; we don't do Apple stuff in our house, we're an Android family.
The above said, right now Applebee's is a 1:1 exchange and my wife and I like to go there for a burger every now and again. While we like Applebee's, we like Carrabba's Italian Grill even more and it has roughly a 1:.95 ratio (2,640 points = $25).

They also give you an annual $16 credit for membership in AMAC
Hi All,
Please excuse if this was already posted somewhere. Got an email from PenFed that they've added additional categories to my PenFed Platinum Rewards card.
Before it was:
Now it is:
Kinda cool to see someone take on EV stations. The points are not worth 1cpp for reference; I think they are around .8% so 5x is 4.25% and 3x is 2.4% which isn't bad if you don't have a card with higher reward earnings yet. Overall though they dining/grocery/streaming category options on one card is nice. Looks like the updated their website too - just thought I'd share.
Thanks for this @credit_is_crack.
I got this email but forgot about it. I may use mine now to pay for our Dish bill.
