Pending CSP Approval... Update: Approved!

Hi everyone. I could use some feedback, sorry for the long post! (TLDR below)

I'm 'Pre Qualified' on Chase's site for Feedom/CSP. Since I want this combo, I decided to finally give in.

I went into a branch so I can have the lower spending req for the CSP and wanted to open a checking/savings. I mentioned I wanted to apply for both cards, the Rep definitely gave me a funny look. She decided that we would go with the CSP first. After she pulled up my info, she noticed I had a CO at some point (I'll get to that in a min). She submitted my CSP and was given 7-10 day notice. She finished opening my checking/savings. I left.

As far as the CO goes, I have 3 closed Chase accounts on my CR, they say, paid as agreed/closed, account paid satisfactorily, or transferred to another office. The notes says closed consume request or says closed grantor request. These are from 2006 and 2009. Even though it wasn't that long ago, I can't seem to remember exactly what happened with these accounts. My mom and I were in a huge financial burden for a while after my dad past and my credit was destroyed. (I found an old report from Aug 2004, EX 514, TU 513, EQ showed 482!). I just simply can't and don't remember the specifics. I thought we paid everything off after refinancing and closed all but one credit card (Cap one from 99).

I have worked hard to rebuild my credit. At this point, my credit score from myFico is EX 817, EQ: 802, and TU 776 (only diff is 1 account from `07 not reporting, seems to be lowering my AAoA), no baddies, no late payments, utilization is at 5%, length of history is 13 years 7 months, and AAoA is 6 years. Newest account 1 yr 4 months, in the past year, I have 2 inq on EX and TU and 1 on EQ before today.  Chase pulled EX and EQ.

I called the App status line (after 5pm PST) and confirmed the waiting period. I called the backdoor app recon line and spoke with someone who asked me about a few cards current balances (explain it's all 0% BT), verified a few income and housing questions and then asked about the CO. I explained what I said above and he said hold on and I'll review your CR and get back to you with a decision. He puts me on hold for a while and comes back and said that he needs to submit my case for further analyst to review and it may take up to 20 days but hopefully not that long. He gives me their direct number to call back and check Wednesday (different than the backdoor number I used). I then decided to call the back door credit analyst - recon number to see if I can expedite by having someone at this dept look at it, thinking that's where it went, but he too said it's in review and he can't do anything.

TLDR;

App CSP, 7-10 day. Have CO w/Chase in past. No baddies/lates/5% util,13yr history, 6yr AAoA. FICO: 770-817. Called App recon, need second review, told to call back.

So what do you all think? Any idea why someone else needs to look at it? A supervisor? A senior analyst? Depending on if Chase is friendly with a previous CO with them, that seems to be my make or break. Any chance I may be able to recon if they deny? Some of the users on here has had some luck.

Anyone else with experience?

If I do get approved for some reason, should I hold off on the Freedom until I've established my relationship with Chase?

If I don't get approved, do you think they will consider me for the Freedom? It would be a bummer to have 2 HP with no card. Smiley Sad

Thanks for your time~!

Update::

I've called the automated line a few times the last few days and was told I'd get a letter in 7-10 days.

I was scrolling through my mint account and noticed a new account "Credit Card"!

I immediately logged onto my Chase account and there's a new Credit Card account under my new checking and savings. Went into that account and see a $10K CL! My second highest! (I have a $12K card that was recently increased to $15K but hasn't posted yet)

Re: Pending CSP Approval... Called, Need Add'l Review?

Thanks for the reply.

I wasn't aware of a collections. Is that the same as a Charge off? Chase was referring a Charge Off. That's what they show on their records. And since one of my account says transferred to another office, I'm guessing it was? I really can't remember. They don't show up as bads on my CR, or I'm just not understanding how to read it. But either way, Chase has their history and the see it. Is Chase looking for me to repay them? I'm not aware of any collections - (edit to add): There are no collections on any of my reports.

Re: Pending CSP Approval... Called, Need Add'l Review?

Just because its not on your cr doesn't mean you don't have a debt. Chase, like Amex, has a long memory. If their records are showing a past delinquency it does not look promising.

Once they review your app you will definitely know if you have a co or not. I'd proceed after you have more information since you can't remember what happened.

Re: Pending CSP Approval... Called, Need Add'l Review?

There are times where they need to do processing and even back door won't even be able to rush a decision for you. It can be for various reason(s). It happened to me when I applied for my CSP, and it turns out they needed to do ID verification because I was at my current residence for only 2 months then.

If you did burn chase in the past, then chances are you might still be blacklisted even though it has fallen off your CR. chase, citi and Amex are known to bear grudges for a long time, though some have managed to reopen new accounts with them as well. Its a Ymmv situation.

Wait for more info before you plan your next step

Re: Pending CSP Approval... Called, Need Add'l Review?

Chase also uses their own internal scoring as well to determine approval or not. That is why sometimes people with lower scores gets approved and some with higher don't.

To the post about vertification... If chases needed that they will call u on the number listed to ask for it. But usually you will get a letter in the mail ( within 5days) asking you to mail it in r fax it.

Re: Pending CSP Approval... Called, Need Add'l Review?

Update::

Now...  they did pull EX and EQ.

I still show pre Qualified for the Freedom card on chase sites. Question is. Should I apply? Or should I wait to build a relationship with Chase and apply later?

I'd still like this card for the Combo. I know it's a new pull. I wonder if they'll have the same concerns? I paid off another card that's 1k. My utilization is less than 4% overall now.

Does the Freedom have a lower requirement or same conditions as the CSP? I wonder if I'm more likely to be approved since they already approved the CSP, or on the same note, less likely since I just got a card? Keep in mind that Charge Off they see in the past.

Thanks for all the help and support! I won't have this card in time for my vacation but I'm ecstatic to get it approved. Thank you all so much!

Re: Pending CSP Approval... Called, Need Add'l Review?

Congrats

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Pending CSP Approval... Update: Approved!

If you are pre-qualified I say go for it, though another downside is that chase has already extended you 10k in credit.

I saw the pre-qual on mine after getting the CSP. Was instantly approved

Re: Pending CSP Approval... Called, Need Add'l Review?

Congratulations!

Call and ask them to expedite and tell them you want to use it on vacation. They have been very accommodating to other CSP cardholders in the past.

Hold off on the Freedom. You just took a 2 HP hit. Recover for 90 days from application date and then apply, it will be an instant approval.
