My Penfed card has a 5k CL and I haven't used it for about 14 months. At that time I had put a 3k charge on it and had autopay setup to make the minimum payment, which I see come out of my bank account every month. On the app and the website, it shows I have an available credit of several thousand dollars, but when I tried to use it the other day for fuel it was declined and said to contact the cardholder. I looked at the previous two statements and they say the available credit is NONE even though the app and website as well as the automated phone number on the back all say the available balance is several thousand. Does anyone have any ideas on this or will I have to wait until Monday and talk to them??
Sounds like they are balance chasing you
Something has them spooked into thinking they might not get paid if they let you keep making purchases
are you carrying large balances on your other cards?
As above poster stated likely since been making minimum payments for over a year they are either balance chasing you or shut off your available credit to be used until paid off is likely what is happening or they indeed cancelled the card. Give them a call tomorrow. One thing that will scare creditors quickly is making only minimum payments for very long period of times also as above poster mentioned are you doing similar on other cards as well, etc?
Well, I had 22 cards and I have pretty much quit using all of them except my 3 Chase cards and the rest have been sock drawered with auto minimum payment, and then I have been paying them down to zero one at a time.
