I had their AMEX @ 25k CL and Pathfinder VISA @ 17.5k. Now that AMEX is gone will they allow me to combine both limits into one VISA - 42.5k limit?
Thanks!
Yes sir. Only three Visa cards.
OP, would that $42.5k limit do you any good though? I know it's a nice number, but high exposure isn't the best thing right now, especially if you're looking to get more cards in the near future.
I thought that the Amex was only "gone" for new applications but that those who already have the card can keep using it. So I wouldn't call it "gone."
PenFed has a number of active cards for which they are not taking new applications at the present time: the Defender Visa, the Promise Visa, the Pathfinder Amex, the Pathfinder Visa, and the 5% gas card (I think it's called the Cash Rewards Visa).
Called in a couple weeks ago to ask about combining my Plat rewards (12k) with my PCR (also 12k) to consolidate into a 24k card. The CSR said they could only move 8k, which seems inconsistent with what I've read in the past. Possibly a new policy, but I haven't spoken to another CSR for verification.

They no longer provide AMEX in their network. My AMEX was converted to the Pathfinder Rewards Visa Sig. I didn't request it and when I called in they told me AMEX is no longer part of their network.
Shouldnt have a problem combining cards havd done moving around limits in the past. Might depend if you have grandfather status meaning a card can go > 25k, etc..

Good point since 50k is max exposure and they target 25k per card right now
I've been with them for 5 years. I just don't feel the need to have two visas with them. My only concern is if I combine them does that raise the risk of them lowering such a high CL of $42.5. My next closest is $31.6 with C1. I am trying to trim down the number of cards I have.
