Isn't it the amount of NEW accounts they look at for "pyramiding debt" as opposed to total available credit? I've seen peeps with $200/$300k available credit get approved
I had over $200K in available credit with 16 EXp inquiries..Waisted alot on non useful cards then found this forum..
Thats when I realized it is a marathon not a sprint to raise your scores..![]()
Was instant approval for Cash rewards.. put in $20.00 in money market.. Get 5% off each gas purchase..
same 90 days applied for promise - Got it..![]()
First quarter was pre-approved for $15,000 Auto loan.. Didn't bite
Have to Admit of all my cards Promise is on top of my A list.
Hopefully will never have to use it. But does give me a peace of mind.![]()
As you can see My Fico score is not 800+
I wish you the best of luck if you go for this card in a few months. I have a Penfed membership but got the whole Egyptian reason for denials before from them.

Dang popa that's exactly what I was afraid of and why I'm gardening. How many new accounts do you have past 6 months?
+1 Because I want to hear the answer to this question.

Yeah Popa let us know your history prior to applying.
I did a quick check on my stats... 4 new accounts in last 6 months and 7 new accounts in last year.
Pretty sure it was for the new accounts I had and perhaps maybe how many of them had balances at the time too. Didn't have that many EQ inquiries at the time. Probably 4-5. I'll look through my denial letter for more specifics.
