I wish I could help you interpret the PenFed offer but I haven't been with them all that long and with that being said, I haven't received any mailers.  Maybe someone who has an established relationship with them can shed some light.

Re: Penfed question

PenFed can be rather conservative, I think the best way to interpret the offer is to look at your profile. What are your scores and do you have any baddies on your CR.

Re: Penfed question

My current scores are below. 1 small medical collection on each report($100) that I am trying to PFD. I know my scores are low for Penfed but this board is full of posts

from people who got surprise approvals so maybe they like me for some reason Smiley Very Happy

Sorry I was in mobile and could not see your scores. Well your right there have been some surprising approval results. Scores are kinda low though to recommend you pull the trigger. I'd see if you can can get that collection removed or at least have it show paid before applying, that way if you have to do recon you have something to work with. I just hate to see anyone waste a HP and get a denial when all an approval will take is a little more time to bring up scores. Another thing to consider is bringing utilization down to under 10% if possible that will give your score a nice little boost. Ultimately the decision is yours but if personally wait, PenFed will be there waiting.

Re: Penfed question

Thanks. I already have my UTIL at 7%. I have been trying to get PFD on the collection but haven't gotten a response yet from the CA. My thoughts are too wait unless someone here has a similar experience with a mailer from Penfed. I have already been denied by all major banks other than Cap1 so I'm not shopping for more credit right now. However...if  a major bank were to knock on my door I would let it in. I joined Penfed, DCU, USAA and NASA in the past 60 days so I'm patiently waiting to qualify for something from one of them. Thanks for your time.

No problem. Whether it's today or tomorrow you'll get what you want and those big banks will be knocking. Good job getting that Utilization down, you should benefit greatly from that.

Re: Penfed question

Are the medical collections the only derogatory items on your reports?

Re: Penfed question

Yes. I have a few 30 days lates from early 2015. However, my credit card payment history is spotless with my oldest account being 12 years.
