Planning my next app spree...what to go for?

I have been in the garden for 6 months now and I'm planning on an app spree soon (maybe in March if I can hold out that long).

Info in sig with cards currently held, credit scores, no baddies, perfect payment, 3% utilization, 1 student loan for $24,500 (not paying on yet because I'm still a student).

Over the last 2 months I have received multiple "pre qualified" offers...and they are rolling in from these places at least 1 time a week (from the same places). They sure spend a lot on mail coming to my house trying to get me to apply for their card. Smiley LOL

So what I have:

Simplicity Citi card. It started out at 0% APR for 18 months and now they are sending them out for 0% for 21 months. 11.99% APR after the 21 months. It says never an annual fee ever. I don't really see anything about any cash back or benefits. (I have a stack of these and have only opened 1 of them so I'm not sure if they are all the same offer).

Discover it...I have a stack of these (I swear they send me an envelop at least twice a week lol). I have only opened one of them and it says 5% cash back on changing categories, 1% cash back at other times. No annual fee.0% APR for 14 months, then 15.99-18.99% after that. Free FICO credit score monthly.

Lastly, I have received about 5 offers from BOA. 1% cashback on everything, 2% on groceries, 3% on gas. 0% APR for 15 months.

So...tell me about these cards. Good or bad experiences? Good to have in my wallet?  Who do they pull from? What are the CLI like (how often)? Are they a HP when they do a CLI? Do they normally give high limits to start out with?

Any other cards I should go for?

I'm willing to listen to any other "advice" about doing an app spree (since I have never done one before). How many should you go for in 1 day before calling it quits?

Thanks so much for your time.

Re: Planning my next app spree...what to go for?

Depends on what you value.

My top 4 or 5 for the year, which I am fortunate I got all in Jan were...

1. Amex Biz Platinum (travel perks)

2. Amex Delta Platinum (travel perks, MQM)

3. Chase Marriott Sig (I stay at Marriotts)

4. United Club - ended up getting United Explorer for the miles, perks

Also picked up an Amex Blue Cash (old card) for 5% cash back over 6500, and just got the Cap 1 GM Card.... would not mind a free gm lease. lol. (paid by MS).

Re: Planning my next app spree...what to go for?

I would recommend the Discover It out of the three.. just because they sent it to you doesn't mean you should get all three. Smiley Wink (Great job staying in the garden 6 months! Your line up is good so far, and I know you'll feel great closing out that orchard bank. Smiley Happy Discover had SP and HP clis-- I've very much had a positive experience with Discover on CLIs, as well.

If you're going to spree, then I would recommend a better cash back card than the others like maybe Sallie Mae or Fidelity Amex.

Your scores are fantastic! Congrats! Smiley Happy

Re: Planning my next app spree...what to go for?

I've had good experiences with all 3 companies. Discover probably offers the most helpful and consistent customer service out of anyone. They like EQ but are known to pull EX and TU on occasion and have been giving a lot of auto CLI lately.  I'm not a fan of the revolving 5% categories.

Citi is good for churning sign up bonuses if you have the stomach, but once you're in with them, they have quite a few other nice cards (and bonuses) and usually approve you for them. In my case they always pull EX. CLI is every 6 months and they will tell you if it's eligible for SP.

BoA has been good for reconsideration in my case and they're willing to give CLI, but it's usually a HP. Their customer service has been hit or miss in my experience. I would look at their Fidelity Amex that gets 2% back on everything and forget the offer they sent you.  They like to pull EX for initial app and TU for CLI.

Barclays also has some nice options. Sallie Mae gets you 5% back on gas and Arrival has a good bonus and points post very promptly.

Try googling creditpulls and you can get a good idea who pulls what.

I really don't have anything that I "value" or that I'm looking for. Yes, the perks are nice, but I just want the credit to add to my profile honestly. If perks come with it, I'll take it.

It looks like most of yours are revolved around traveling. I have my Amex card for my travel expenses. So, really not looking for another travel related card. The Amex more than meets my needs. We only travel twice a year and use a substantial amount those 2 times, which makes this card worth it. If I had another travel card, I don't think I travel enough to use both of them.

If you just want the credit then I would pick the best terms out of all your offers (sometimes the APR after the 0% will be different on each offer)

I would do in order:

Discover

BofA

Citi

I was thinking I wanted to do the Discover It as well. I'm just trying to figure out what else I want to go for and the other places are just what seems to send me a lot in the mail. I figured I had a better chance of getting them because of that.

I'm still debating if I will be closing out the Orchard/Cap One card. It all depends on if they remove the stupid $59 a year charge. If they won't remove it, I will close it.

Tell me about the Sallie Mae and Fidelity Amex.  Isn't the Sallie Mae for students? If so, I will need to get that card soon since I graduate in May. Do they let you keep it after being out of school? What are the benefits to having one of these? I hadn't even realized that Sallie Mae had a cc. I have only heard about them with a mortgage.

Is the Fidelity Amex and regular Amex? what are the benefits to getting one of those? Would they even give me another card since I already have an Amex (which they keep refusing to give me a CLI).

LOVE Fidelity Amex... its my partners and I daily use card.

It is backed by FIA/Bank of America not American Express Centurion Bank

I'm really not a big fan of the revolving bonuses either, but I'm really just looking for more cards to add to my file and not "too" much about the bonuses. I just want to be approved. Smiley LOL

If Citi does a lot of auto increases, I would like that. What do you mean by they are good churning up the sign up bonuses "if you have the stomach for that"? I would definitely like to get in with them if they will offer additional cards in the future. I use to have 2 citibank cards back in the 90's and they were some of my highest limit cards.

I had considered Barclays because I remember people mentioning that they do the TU credit score monthly (although I have my Walmart Discover to get that, so it's not "that" importanat I guess).

I'll check out the creditpulls and see what I come up with.

Can you tell me why you like this card so much? What does it offer? Since it's not backed my Amex, maybe I'll give it a try.
