Thinking of downgrading my Chase Sapphire Reserve. I also have a Freedom Unlimited. I consolidate all my points to the CSR (coming up on 750k).
I understand that points are worth 1.5 when used to book through Chase portal as long as I hold the CSR. But if I eventually plan on transfering those points to a partner when we book a trip, it really doesn't matter, right? Or am I misunderstanding?
I've never used points to book anything before...I've just been collecting them. So I am fairly ignorant on the subject.
Note that CFU alone...without a CSP or CSR...cannot transfer points to partners. Days before I downgraded my CSR to a second Freedom, I moved a lot of URs to Hyatt and United.

Oh! Good to know, thanks! But I would most likey downgrade to a CSP anyway.

Yes, if you are transferring to partners, both CSR and CSP offer the same rate. The enhancement rates only comes on booking through Chase portal.
Yes, the CSP is no different than the CSR when it comes to transferring points to partner rewards programs. In my experience transferring points, Hyatt is a great program to transfer points to for redemptions. Airlines require more research.
