I have Verizon wireless for two lines and I get $20 off my bill with AutoPay. But it must be connected to your bank account. Credit cards and debit cards are not eligible. So if I want the coverage from my Amex Delta Platinum or Barclays Arrival Plus, it’s the same as paying $10 insurance for each phone. So keep that in mind for any Verizon customers looking at that benefit from your cc.
Debit cards should work just fine (although no insurance on them!) Various ways round this have been suggested recently, including Paypal bill pay.
i've been wondering why the phone companies are doing this. Is it to push their in house protection plans? i have AT&T wireless, and although they do allow you to pay for your cell bill with credit card, they deduct it 9 days before the due date...and if you pay with your debit card or checking account, it's on the due date (or like the day before). it's weird.
That is definitely my only assumption. The cost is $6-$17 depending on coverage/customer type. Verizon claim is up to “$400 or $3000 depending on device.” And deductibles range “For all non-New York customers, the deductible for a replacement claim will be $19/$129/$189/$229/$249, depending on device. For New York customers, the deductible for a replacement claim will be $19/$49/$99/$149/$229, depending on device.” Whereas AmEx and MC deductibles are a simple $50 for $800-$1000 coverage depending on card. Cracked screens need approval and have $29 deductible with Verizon whereas AmEx includes cracked screens.

Auto pay discount works with debit cards and only the VZW credit card.
I have 8 lines and only 2 have insurance so it saves me a ton.
YMMV.
DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!

Paypal Key worked until January of this year. I moved the autopay to my Freedom Flex rather than keep the autopay discount. For my 3 lines, my wife made the decision that she would rather pay the extra each month and keep the insurance.

Right, PayPal Key is dead, but a few of us have tried Paypal Bill Pay, which allows you to use a specific card (such as Freedom Flex) while counting as a bank pay, so getting the autopay discount.

I have Verizon's credit card. Now what's interesting if you get the Verizon CC, you can only use that credit card to autopay your cell bill. The good thing about it is that you still get $10 off your bill, and you earn reward points on the card for doing so.
