Why would you put it on a freeze?

I'm not really sure how it works. Wondering if it could increase the chances of them pulling either Experian or Trans Union. The only credit card I kept for the last 3 yrs didn't report to Equifax unfortunately. I'm sure it would be fine in 6 mos but it would be nice to get a couple of these to build history with. Equifax would be clean but there would be nothing on it older than 3 mos.
Honest opinion ... I would say Chase will prob be a no. You have a better chance with Discover but be ready for a possible secured option with Discover. Or you could garden for 6 months then go after one.

Either that or increase the chances of a denial

Welcome to the forum. Since lenders can double pull or flat out deny for frozen CR's, it's not a good move. Further, freezing CR's so that a lender is forced to pull a more favorable bureau is frowned upon at myFICO as being unethical.
moving to CC's
Go for the Freedom first, it is harder to get but if your EX score is high 600s I don't see why you won't be approved. Then go for the Discover IT.

I'm inclined to agree. I think the Discover is the easier card to get, but that's only based on my personal experience.
I would give it 6 months to let your new accounts report. For me Discover pulled EQ. I think Discover would pull EQ for the OP, too. Chase pulled EX only for me. However, I have seen post where Chase doubled pulled.
You might want to check the credit card pull DB to get an idea of what bureau the bank will pull for your state. It is not a guarantee, but it can help in balancing your credit pulls between the different CRA's.
PS. If the goal is to apply for a mortgage, I would try to fit in an installment loan or two a couple of years before the mortgage. That could be a car loan and/or credit builder secured loan.
I ended up breaking down and apping for both. I know I'm terrible. Discover was shot down in flames and I was approved for $500 for Chase Freedom. I had to call to get them to reconsider as both pulled Equifax. Chase went ahead and pulled Transunion too and then approved. I'll see what they pulled for score when it comes next week.
So Discover It is one shot and your done. If you're denied by the computer I guess you're toast. Chase was very nice and cut me a lot of slack. The analyst even admitted she was in the middle of rebuilding her credit too
I now have all the cards I need for quite awhile. I'll look into closing out my rebuilder cards in 2015 if I can score the Discover It and maybe an Arrival around then. See if I can swap my Cap1s for a Quickilver. Transunion is clean report and Equifax/Experian should be in a week.
