Possible to re-open cards that I requested be closed?

Two years ago, when I was experiencing financial difficulty, I went on a payment plan with two cards (Discover Card and Citibank Visa) and requested / agreed to close the accounts.

At the time, I did not relaize that closing the accounts was a damaging act.

I have been in good standing with them since, making the payments as agreed and above the minimums they request.

I almost finished with Discover.

Is there any chance at all in getting these accounts re-opened with the original start date (to show a lengthy account)?

Also, does it make a difference if I stay on the payment plan and eventually pay off the card or would it be more beneficial to my FICO to transfer these balances to another card and settle the debt once and for all?

Thanks for the feedback.

By any chance, do you know if a credit card company has the power to wipe out a history of late payments on an account?

If I cannot re-open these accounts, I am thinking of requesting that they have the late payment history deleted.

It seems like this might be posisble if Pay For Deletion is possible in regard to an account on the whole.

Any creditor that adds something to your reports can certainly remove it.. whether or not they will is another story.

I am in a similar situation with BoA, I have done all the begging to no avail.
Paid them all I owe through a CCS program (which closed my card in the interim) but they will NOT reopen or approve me for a similar card.
I have great scores now with CLs totaling 85K+ from PRIME creditors & no rescent late payments on ANY account for 3+ years and im still only offered their 99/500 secured card...which is a card with training wheels on it as far as I am concerned. Smiley Mad

Next plan is to print out my latest CRs & ficos and bring it down to one of their branches & ask for a recon in person.
