Posting Payment question

Hi,

I have credit cards with citi and bofa and my monthly payment due date is 21st and new statement generated on 24th. My checkings account is with bofa.

For my citi card, say suppose I pay via my bofa on 21st. Would it be considered as late payment ? Because I think it takes 2-3 business days for the payment to be posted.

What about bofa ? Can I make payment on 21st ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Posting Payment question

Are you paying online on the CC site?  Or bill pay from Bank site?

Re: Posting Payment question

Did CIti morph into Cap1?

Here is the verbage from our Citi Account.     You can pay on the due date but before 5pm E.T.    You have to read the terms when you pay.

"To avoid a late fee, schedule your Payment Date2 no later than your due date. If your payment request is received by 5 p.m. ET, it will be credited as of the same day"

Re: Posting Payment question

I'm sorry the credit card I was inquiring abt is capone not citi. Citi is the one with whom I have collections pending. Sorry for confusion. Somehow I ended up typing citi may be thinking too much about collections.

Re: Posting Payment question

most (not all!) creditors now allow you to pay the same day, as long as you do it BEFORE a certain cutoff time, which is different for different cards.  the money won't come out of your account for several days, but the payment will be posted as of THAT day.

Re: Posting Payment question

Capital One has a table at the bottom of page when you pay online.

Basically, if you pay by 5 pm ET on Monday through Saturday on the due date, you are on time.   If your due date is Sunday, you can pay anytime Sunday.

Thanks for your replies. I keep you posted if I get any late payment fees charged.
