Pre-Approval offers??

I haven't had a pre-approval offer in the last six months except for Credit One. I was hoping that after 2+ years of perfect credit since the BK that I would start receiving some higher or prime offers. I was receiving WAMU and Cap One. I applied for both and was denied for WAMU and approved for Cap One. I also applied for Hooters and Juniper and was approved for both. The last time I checked my credit score was EX. 648, EQ. 663 and TU 638. When do the better cards start sending pre-approvals? Does the "economy" have something to do with it? Should I just go on a blind-apping spree? Do none of the major or prime cards ever send pre-approvals after BK?

Re: Pre-Approval offers??

I think you have 3 cards now to start with. Let me age and start building good payment history. I am sure other cards will follow. You might want to consider adding an Amex Card also to your list. You would get a Delta or Blue with your scores.

Re: Pre-Approval offers??

I started getting Tier 1 CC offers about 4 years after my BK. That was when my FICO hit 660-690 range. I got the even better 0% for 12 months w/ balance transfer offers around 6 year mark (720+ FICO). I have never gotten an offer from Bank Of America though. I think some companies (like BofA) simply exclude any reports w/ BK from their offers. I have a feeling month after my BK frops off BofA and a wave of others will send offers. Best tip I have is work on improving your existing CL. Most creditors once they approve you will look at your existing CL to determine the CL offered.

Re: Pre-Approval offers??

I started getting preapprovals from Citi once I hit the very high 600s to low 700s.

If you value your Juniper card, a blind app spree is not advisable.  Juniper hates it when their cardholders go on app sprees, and have been known to CLD or shut them down entirely as a result.  Juniper even hates lots of new accounts, even when they're not from a spree.

Re: Pre-Approval offers??

I am pretty happy so far. My Cap One was $2000 (now $3250). My Hooters has always been $1100. My Juniper was $1500 (Now $2500). Hopefully, I can just keep getting CLI's from them.
