Pre-Selected Offer from Merrick Bank

Today I received a pre-selected offer from Merrick Bank. I opted-out maybe a month ago but I know offers can still continue for a little while. Anyways they offered me a $700CL that would increase to $1400CL after 7 months.

Obviously I'm not taking it for several reasons. 1) I don't need it.  2) I opened the Barclay's Apple card in November and don't want it closed.  and 3) After I opened the Barclays card and a new Cap1 card (both in November) my TU dropped nearly 40 points.

So thanks, but no thanks. Even though I opted-out, it still felt good getting an offer. The new accounts killed my AoAA and then my FICO so it felt nice to know I'm considered credit worthy by somebody. It's a good feeling being able to shred offers when only a year ago I would have killed for this offer.

Experian: 789 FICO (4/10/12) Lender Pull
Equifax: 695 FICO (1/10/14) MyFico

My cards: Chase United Mileage Plus 7000CL (3/12), CITI Simplicity 1800CL (9/12), Cap1 Platinum 1000CL (2/10), Cap1 Cash back 1500CL (11/11), Apple Barclay's 2500CL (11/11), Discover IT 6000CL (5/13)

My Primary Financial Goal is to put down my utl%.

Congrats on the pre~approval, but like you said, if you don't need it, then just shred it.    Keep gardening and your AAoA will grow older....
