Product change-Merger....

I have a few cards from the same lender which I am interested in closing down but after transferring the whole credit limit to the one I would like to keep. For example- I have 3 different credit cards with Chase. Chase Sephire, Chase Freedom and Disney. I want to keep Chase Sephire and like to close down Chase Freedom and Disney but after transferring all CLs from these two cards to Chase Sephire. Do you think its possible? Does Chase allow it? Can I transfer the whole limit from these two cards to Sephire? Would there be any HP for this? Any negative consequences I should be awared of to doing so?

Also, I have two Capital one cards. Can I do the same thing with Capital One? Same goes to Elan Financial...I have 3 accounts with them. And Wells Fargo as well...I have 2 accounts with them...

I do not want to have any HP in doing so nor I would like any of my accounts to get shut down. Please let me know if you know anything about it....

Thank you

Chase allows reallocations, but in a variety of cases, not all of the entire CL can be transferred.  It really depends when you decide to process the request(s). No HP to combine/reallocate.

Capital One reallocations and/or account combinations are no longer possible.  That ship sailed long ago, sorry you missed the boat.  Unless Capital One reintroduces that option, that's the only way.

ELAN does not combine accounts or CLs.  The same would apply to US Bank.

Wells Fargo allows reallocations - it should be no HP.

As far as AA, that depends on the institution.  Chase would be one that we've seen can probe a little deeper, if anything.  But, the forum cannot guarantee when a lender does AA. Sort of the YEMV and defying DPs kinda thing.

Re: Product change-Merger....

@FinStar  Thank you very much...I did contact Chase, at least 5 times to get more clarity and confirmation. All CSRs I spoke with told me the same that I can do it...no HP nor any internal review...but your post about AA makes me to think about it if there is any datapoint. But all CSRs said that no any kinda review...but also said that one can transfer the whole CL from a card if there is no activity in 60 days, otherwise $1k would need to leave it on the card...and then wait full 60 days again to not to have any activity in order to transfer the whole available CL from the account that wanted to be closed down...

Called Capital one CSRs 3 times and they all said that no product change...consolidation...merger...

Thank you....
