Product change within Capital One

Has anyone experienced or heard how this product change works? I have 2 Capital one cards (quicksilver one & platinum). I have had QS1 for over 2 years with a 1250 limit and just got my Platinum card a week ago with 1k. My QS1 card has $39 AF and On my platinum is no AF. I was wanting to see, after I max out my CLI on both cards, about getting a Quicksilver card and getting rid of my QS1. And after getting my QS card, try to combine my Platinum limit onto my QS if they allow that.....? Does anyone know how this works? Also, does it require a HP when doing a PC?

I touched a little bit on this in your other thread just now, but didnt have the answers to those exact questions.  Memory is not my strong suit, and I haven't kept good records either, or I'd be happy to share what my increases were before I combined.  As to the amounts on the increases, it will have to do with your spending/payments/utilization, you baddy on the SL falling off may help too.  Income and housing cost figures are a factor as well.  I'm not sure on their wording, so I dont know if you can use total housing income/any income reasonably available to you, as the figure you enter like with some lenders, or if you already have.

I also got rid of my QS1 one right before the anniversary fee, and it sounds like a good plan.  I'm pretty sure plenty of others will have data to share with you on this, as Cap1 has been a great way of building SLs for those who are not yet in the upper echelons of credit glory.  I'm pretty certain if you get a QS, even 6 months from now, it will easily eclipse the score on both of those, and then in 6 months you can combine the QS1 into it...and maybe 6 months later combine the Platinum into that.

I'm not an expert by any means, so others will be able to help with more details, but the fact that you're looking ahead and laying out a gane plan speaks volumes about the likelihood of your speedy credit building rise.

Re: Product change within Capital One

I'll be product changing both my secured platinum and my QS1, both of which, refuse to grow with me.

They will be changing from balances owed and opened, to paid in full and closed within the next month.

1. PC when offered is always sp

2. You get only one CLI every 6 mths

3. When you consolidate both cards, it will reset CLI clock to the date of consolidation

Re: Product change within Capital One

We're close in what you want to do and what I did. Cards are swapped. Now remember last year there were no 6 months rule for every move. Started with the rebuild after BK '15. No cards for yrs. I got the Plat first. 3 months later got the QS1. Baby steps. Used them both and PIF except 1 under 5%. Working up from starter cards.  Then took the Plat and upgraded to QS.  2 months later. QS1 doesnt upgrade well at times for some. Plat does. Then apped for the Venture. 8 months later after getting it, got lucky and I combined the QS1 to the Venture. Avoided the fee. Then apped for the QS WEMC. Few months ago got the Premiere dining. I still have the Plat/QS as my oldest card and SD'ed for age.

Dont know your whole profile. Sticky point is your QS1 is your oldest, just like my QS/Plat. So JMO. YMMV. You could go after the QS in 6 months since you just got the Plat.. Then combine the QS1 to it. Then upgrade the Plat to QS. Yeah you'd have 2 QS's. But the Plat/QS after combine will always be a Plat based card. Just like mine below. I have 4 C1's. Dont have the luxury of the big boys due to BK. I got 2 auto CLI's last week on my QS WEMC and my QS/Plat for 3.5k total. Each card works separtly, not as a whole for making moves.

GL. And dont max out anything BTW. Cap1 like swipes/usage/PIF more than anything. And again JMO and it worked for me.
