I've read that after 4 years, one should product change from the CSR to a non-sapphire card only to then later apply for it again for another go at the SUB. Of course (for me anyway), this barring the fact of a great SUB offer available at the time for the CSR. Anyone has done this in the last or thinks this a good way to go with the CSR? I've read that if your not doing this with the CSR, you as are basically leaving money on the table.
IMHO trying to churn Chase is a dangerous business. I would avoid playing games like that.
I'm in the same boat, coming up on 4 years since I received my CSP SUB. I have enough points stockpiled that the difference between 1.25x CSP and 1.5x redemption bonus of the CSR more than offsets the AF, even without considering the travel credit. If the SUB for CSR stays at 50k, I do wonder whether that amount of UR points is worth the risk of scrutiny from Chase to re-apply; I may just upgrade. That said, if CSP SUB goes back up to 100k, the risk is more temping to go for another SUB and then upgrade later.
Is it really true that doing a product change and not closing any accounts looks better to Chase and/or other lenders, and that's why it's safe to re-apply? Anyone have evidence of someone claiming to have run afoul of Chase after re-applying for Sapphire after 4+ years?

@Citylights18 wrote:Would it make more sense just to look at a card like the Venture X where they are offering 100k miles?
Venture X $395 AF ($300 travel credit)
Sapphire Reserve $550 ($300 travel credit)
Venture X $395 AF (10,000 bonus points annually)
Sapphire Reserve $550 (1.5 points redemption)
Capital One has different travel partners so you can also diversify over just having Chase travel partners.
@Citylights18 I've certainly herd of the Venture card and some even saying it's better to go with it rather than the CSR. I'm so deep in the Chases ecosystem that may venturing out and see what else is out there would be good.

@1LostArk I havent done enough research on this to come across anyone ruining their relationship with Chase but doesn't mean it hasn't happened either.
