Promotional Offers on Existing Cards

I got an email yesterday from Chase that if I spend more than $600 till the end of the year, I'll get one bonus point for each of the categories on my Amazon card. That would make it 4% at Amazon, 3% for gas, dining and drugstores, 2% on everything else. As I don't have any flat 2% card yet, the offer looks quite interesting to me. Did anyone else get this, or is this something tageted?

Also a more general question: Did you already get any other of the typical seasonal promotional offers?

Re: Promotional Offers on Existing Cards

Got a similar offer to spend 900 till the end of the year, I think, will post back if not after a double check later when I get back.

Not sure what the typical seasonal promotions are, guess that I haven't really been paying much attn. since they HP and denied CLI Smiley Mad

Still probably one of my best rewards cards just  to complicate maters, lol.  Signed up for the offer but not sure if am want to give Chase the business but probably will Smiley Sad

I also see this with mixed feelings. It's a good offer, but I just had decided to leave the card alone for a while because of how Chase handled the card. Their wording, "Earn bonus points by keeping your routine" sounds as if they didn't like that. Now they probably watch me, laughing, how I try to squeeze the funds through that sucky limit.

Just to clarify, this offer is on the Amazon Visa, correct?

Re: Promotional Offers on Existing Cards

The plain truth of the matter is that consumers have cut back their spending and are saving a lot more money than before.

This has cost the Credit Card Industries to loose a lot of money from Merchant Fees all the way down to the interest the credit cards are charging.

They want you to spend more money on credit cards because their profits have taken a serious hit. They are now looking for any type of promotion that will get you spending again.

Keep you credit cards in the sock drawer. The longer you cut back spending the more incentives they will use to entice you.

Bottom line, they are looking out for themselves.

Check and double check the TERMS & CONDITIONS.

Yes, like score_building already said. My apologies for not mentioning this in the first post.

Well, sure. I didn't use the card one month and got this offer. Or it was seasonal. I tried to find out with this thread Smiley Happy.

Sure I will. I was also somewhat displeased that the offer acceptance didn't generate any confirmation response, except on the shortlived screen. I made sure to make a screen dump of offer message plus confirmation screen, in case they "forget" about the promotion, like when I originally applied for the card.
