You typically can't purchase money orders with credit cards.

Yes, I agree.  I'm surprised at the discussion about cash advance, as typically you wouldn't be able to get that far.   Many places are now moving to cash only, excluding debit cards as well (making MS harder!)

Right!

But I do think Western Union will let you do it with a credit card but they peg it as a cash advance transaction...I rememebr it being brought up in a discussion once.

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

These are all debit card locations though right, none of them that I know (which of course excludes mom&pop gas stations) will take cc for money order.

+2

Yep.

And a money order is guaranteed funds as a credit card is not. This is why they mainly accept cash or debit card payment.

They do accept debit cards but only as a pin transaction as it is techincally still a cash transaction. They won't take the debit card payment as "credit".

Re: Purchase a money order with CC???

Some stores don't take debit card for MO. My local Walmart for example refuses to take debit card for MO even though other WM allows it.

Maybe they try to avoid interchange fee, which is still there for debit card.
