Discover did not seem to care that I had an Amex with a $10,000 limit or a Citi with a $17,500 limit. They insisted on giving me a measly $1,000 credit limit just because I was a student.
I've only had the card for 2 months, 3rd billing cycle is coming up soon and I will be asking for a CLI, though I highly doubt I'll get it. If they deny me I'll just keep calling every month from now on until they give me a credit line that's somewhat in line with my other cards. If it's still denied, I'll just throw the card in the sockdrawer after a year or so.
Are those your accounts or AU accounts? Just curious. That is the first I've heard of a 1k Discover.

It's ok though- cuz it's my "wallet card" (although that is going to change by next week- am paying last three off and stowing them away for next 6 mos) as I have some high med. bills to pay that I do NOT want to go to collection!!! Learned from the past!!!
Being self-employed, I feel ya. the insurance doesn't pay a whole lot and just racked up charges from the urgent care clinic for a cast and treatment... all on my card.

Brammy, my Discover is also a $1000.00 card. Just a regular ole Discover, not the student version. I am not sure why but there it is.Van
Have you requested a limit increase? I was afraid that when I app'dthey would give me the HSBC version with a similar limit. I think you may want to call, I understand their underwriting may have changed a little.I have seen the Amex Sky miles spit out that type of limit but didn;t know Discover did.
