Oh- and the CLI pull is soft first- she said they try to do it inhouse- and if you are rejected they will counteroffer and you can request a hard- but why would any of us do that? Stands to reason if you are rejected on the soft then why ask for the hard?

Yes that was my understanding too.  Tell me no on the soft and you can keep it...lol!!

If someone can confirm they are a soft then i'll do it, just to see what they give me. But their interest rate it like 17.xx% or something close to that...that's wayyyyy too high for me. My Chase is at 8.99% fixed and my AMEX Blue is at 11% fixed. Why would I pass those up for 17%?? Doesn't make much sense. But I'm a big fan of the high CL's.

DH has had a Discover for 18 years--current CLI is $14K. This must have been automatic, as I am sure that he's never bothered to ask for a CLI.

He had a crazy high APR, so I got him to do a BT to a new BofA last March. Since then, he has barely used the Disc, never for more than $500 a month. They started sending him pitiful mail, offering a 2.99% BT. After a lot of nagging, umm, encouragement, I finally got him to call and tell them that the reason he BT'd his $6K is because they had him at a 26.99% APR, and why should he bother to come back? Zip-- 6% APR, good until June, when he's to call back and ask for it again.

It appears that Discover will cheerfully take you for everything it can get but is willing to deal if you scare them badly enough.

Re: Question - Discover Card - Whats your limit

Like you Brammy, I have been very tempted to app Discover, either for the More or the Motiva. In fact, thinking about it too much. My credit lines are high but I'm concerned they're going to yank EX and/or approve me with some silly limit. If approved, this would complete my apping for CCs for a very long time. Maybe I should just app and get it over with, I assume my FICO scores and low util on my other cards should get me in the door.

Fused the longer you wait the crazier you'll get.  In the end I was ulling up the app multiple times a week,  Not sure if it was the CSR or just a need to put an end to the torture for once and for all.  THe only thing that concerns me is that you have Amex to babysit. Which is why I don;t want Amex.  Go for it, the most they can do is sa no or give you a oidly limit.  With your other limits you can easily say no thanks.

I suspect one reason why Discover might offer a small limit is because I have 3 CCs with limits of 15K or more. Maybe this is also why CITI approved me for only 3.6K. Maybe in their underwriting, I score poorly in this area; too much available credit but I can't prove it. I haven't pulled today, so if I do app I will also be able to report the ding I'll take with another inq. Is it your understanding they will yank EX too? The last time I spoke with a CSR, they said they view all 3 reports but only hard one.

Re: Question - Discover Card - Whats your limit

Let me look and try to find who they pulled for the initial app.

Fused, I don't doubt for a sec you'd get approved, I just don't know for how much.  But like I said, after six mos w/ good usage and good  history, they said on the 7th mo it would be a soft pull for a CLI.
