First, I hope this is the proper place to post this. If not, I apologize to whomever ends up moving it where I should have and thank you in advance!
Let's say in this example that Generic CC grants you a CLI after 4 "statements" from day 1, like clock work. And you signed up and got approved by them in January (YAY YOU!). So in May, you should be up for a CLI. Let's say you didn't charge anything on that card until March, there for not having a statement actually cut for the first 2 months. Would you still be up for that CLI in May? Or would it be July, since that's technically when you'd have a "4th statement cut"? And going to assume if it's the latter, you'd have to keep having statements cut each and every month to get it every 4 months - correct? That's why people say even if it's just a pack of gum, use the card once a month?
Hope this question makes sense. Tried Googling, but couldn't word it to get anything remotely close back to an answer I was looking for. lol
You don't need to have any charges on it for the statement to cut. Unless specifically mentioned by the creditor, you also don't need any charges for the auto cli. For example, with my Platinum, Capital one asked for charges to be made in order to be eligible for the credit steps increase. I don't remember how it was worded but I can look it up. If they don't specify, they generally shouldn't require it. I'm sure others know more/better than me about this...

Thats the message one gets when you first open the card. I got it when i opened my CC.
I actually got this email 3 days after my 1st statement and I did use it a couple times within that first month.
Thanks for the responses!
I wasn't talking about C1, though. heh. Was trying to possibly figure out if this could be reasoning behind my PPE card not getting a CLI and/or possibly an updated report/score pulled with the denial letter while the Amazon I got the same day, has. I didn't start using the PPE until a few months later, resulting with me just now getting my 2nd statement, where the Amazon I did right off the bat. Mean while my HSN account hasn't had a statement cut in a few months while it's been carrying a $0 balance and had no activity.
Along with just trying to figure out and have better understanding on whether or not all this chat of 'statement cutting' was LITERAL, since e-statements don't seem to exist if there was no activity/0 balance - at least not for me with Sync/Com. lol
