Question about AMEX CLI

So I got my AMEX BCE last month with a $500 SL. first billing cycle I put $490 of spend on it and pushed the payment before statement cut so it would only report $35 and all is good there. Paid the $35 after it posted.

Now with a $500 SL I am on the credit steps thing they do. Is it worth trying to get a CLI at the 61 day mark? Or are they strict about the whole need to wait for 5 statements to generate thing.

For what its worth I also got the PRG with NPSL and have put about $1000 spend on it in the first few days of having it to meet my SUB spend and as they were already budgeted charges I'm just waiting for the statement to close today so I can pay it in full. Will having the other account help in getting a CLI? since $500 is super low and im more inclined to put all my spend on the PRG aside from the random tank of gas or meal.

Re: Question about AMEX CLI

If you got the email about being placed on Amex’s credit steps program. I doubt they will give you a 61 day 3X CLI.

The steps program is barely getting an approval so i would imagine they aren’t going to increase your limit unless you complete the required tasks in the email explaining the program.

On either card Paying in full only after the first statement is likely to not have any effect on the BCE limit until you complete the steps program.

But having the BCE and making responsible payments on it will likely raise your internal score and thus increase your internal spending limit on the PRG.

Re: Question about AMEX CLI

Make sure you use it every month for the 5 months. I highly doubt you will get a CLI before the 5 months.

And per AMEX it is not called credit steps 😕

Re: Question about AMEX CLI

Any reason I shouldn't try for a CLI at the 61 day mark? I've seen some posts where people got a 2x increase with the "credit steps" email

Re: Question about AMEX CLI

No I suppose there’s not really. Unless someone else knows something I don’t

Say you were denied at 61X days and it started the denial CLI clock which is 90 days. You would still be able to get the CLI around the end of the 5th statement.
