Question about AU accounts

My wife was added to 2 cc's of a  family member. In order for these companies to report on her cr's does she actually have to use the cards or do the report automatically because of her beening added to the accounts? So far nothing has been reported on her cr on either of these 2 cc acounts. Anyone have a similar situation that can shed some light on this subject?

Re: Question about AU accounts

They should report automatically, whether she uses the cards or not.  How long has it been since she was added?

Re: Question about AU accounts

I was added as an AU to my GF's Citi card about two weeks ago.  It was reporting to TU an EX as of this past Monday, received the card the same day.  I haven't used it yet. Hopes this helps.

I added my aunt to wells fargo cc about a 6-8 weeks ago. The new card for her came in the mail about a week ago but nothing has hit her cr yet.

Re: Question about AU accounts

Update or not  lol
Both Lowes and Wells Fargo accounts have closed out for the month and apparently aren't going to report my wife as AU on these accounts. Would it be stupid to call and ask why they haven't reported or just leave it alone?

AU accounts are treated the same as if the account were your own (for now, anyway).  If the account helps, it will help you.  If it hurts, it will hurt you.

You inherit all the history on an AU account, good and bad.

Re: Question about AU accounts

Your wife does not have to use the cards - the accounts will/should show up on her file when the creditors report.

I added my sister to my 2 AMEX cards and she realized a 56 point jump.

Being an AU is a good thing - provided the account(s) you are being added to are good accounts (low utility, long history, etc.)
