Question about Amex

I'm wanting to chance a app for AMEX in the future (6 months to a year from now) My questions are: What score range do they usually look for when seeing if they will approve a app? And... What Amex card(s) would you recommend? Smiley Happy i'm all about cash back and rewards haha.

Re: Question about Amex

Amex takes much more than score into consideration for an approval.

Example: INQ's, Baddies, AAoA

Then they apply all the above and scores to come up with an their own internal scoring system.

Generally charge cards are easiest to get along with the Delta card.

IMHO scores in the mid 600's is a good starting point

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Question about Amex

I don't know your scores but as the PP mentioned Amex has their own internal score. As for the easitest card that would be the Green Charge Card IMO. Yes it wont grant you rewards but it will get your foot in the door with Amex, and the sooner you can do that the better becuase they will backdate once you are able to get their reward cards.

Re: Question about Amex

I just got approved for an Amex Costco. They pulled experian. My experian fico was 706 after the pull.  I pulled my experian fico report , on myfico,  right after I applied formthe card. I had 5 inq's on my experian.  It seems my equifax and tu got pulled more in the past.

Re: Question about Amex

My first and only AMEX has been the Blue Cash Everyday (3% groceries, 2% gas, and 1% everything else). $50 bonus. $1k limit. Best fit for my needs without annual fees.

Got with average scores. Denied for CLI. EX 663.

Card looks nice. Reward % lower than Sallie Mae but easier to redeem.

My complain with AMEX BCE: Often misses out on rewarding the bonus, and the system is complicated. First, I need to look at the previous month's (not current) billing statement to match the bonus category spendings. Then they miss out on groceries: Whole Foods and Randall's. Whole Foods was on AMEX website list of supermarket examples !

I have complained twice, then moved my grocery purchase to Sallie Mae. Easier to spot the rewards (posted on every transaction). The first chat rep tried to tell me there was nothing AMEX could do (Whole Foods was not a supermarket blah blah) then I copied their supermarket list link. The rep was decent enough to credit due cash back immediately. Second time (Randall's) I sent a mail. I got a reply in a week citing errors on their technical side and got the credit back in the next statement.

However, I am not so happy about back-checking every month. Anybody else got this problem?
