Question about CLI?

I was wondering if you have some card and not use them for a while would they give you CLI even though you don't use them?

Re: Question about CLI?

It is possible. It all depends on the CC backer. YMMV as always.

Re: Question about CLI?

GE has been know to give CLIs irregardess of use. That being said, they also have been known to close accounts if they remain inactive for an extended amount of time. You could always try requesting a CLI and giving them a compelling reason. For example, if it is a Walmart card you may have a certain big screen tv in mind that costs a bit more than your credit limit. In that case you may ask Walmart to increase your limit so you can charge the purchase on their card as opposed to another. People's experiences vary a lot as far as CLIs. People who rarely use their cards get them and people who churn thousands through their cards a month are sometimes denied.///

Re: Question about CLI?

I'll just use them once every 6 months just to show some activity on the account. I'm sure that would satisfy their requirement.

Re: Question about CLI?

I would contact Credit Solutions directly and ask for each account. There seems to have been a bit more success this way.

+1. Also, it never hurts to ask for a CLI when you know it'll be a soft inq. Ask for it to be soft! Only take hard inqs if you have few on your reports, are comfortable taking the hit, and/or are confident you'll get an approval. Good luck!

Re: Question about CLI?

GE will give CLIs on rarely used cards but It won't be much (YMMV of course). IMO I would use it for a decent purchase every 3 months and they'll give you good increases!!! Thats how its worked out for me!
