Question about Capital One credit limit transfer and MSD

Background. I have a Quicksilver One that started as an Orchard Bank card 7 years ago, became a Capital One Platinum, and than changed to the QS1. It currently has an $1800 CL. I was just approved for the regular Quicksilver at $3K. Is it possible to transfer the $1800 limit from the QS1 to the QS, bringing it to $4800? If so, the idea would be to close the QS1. But, since it's my oldest card I'd be worried about the AAoA. Would Capital One allow the new QS to inherit the MSD from the QS1?

Absolutely not.

CapitalOne will not do CL transfers, Nor will they apply changes as such to your credit reports.

You can do more with your CapOne account than the Chat reps themselves can.

Re: Question about Capital One credit limit transfer and MSD

I believe the answer to both of your questions is a big fat NO, which is Capital Ones favorite answer to quite a few

If I'm incorrect someone will be along shortly to point it out Smiley Happy

Right.   The "best" way to consolidate two Cap One accounts is to close them both and apply for a new one, hoping for a bigger CL.   You almost certainly won't get one, but you get  a triple pull to make up for it.

Okay, well that sucks. But, being the happy clam that I am I'll just be glad that they approved me for the QS.

Re: Question about Capital One credit limit transfer and MSD

They won't move limits around, ever.

Your best bet is either to try the EO to get an increase, or wait it out and in 6 months they will give you something, although results vary as to how much they'll give you.

They doubled my Quicksilver from 3000 to 6000 by going through the EO - before the 6 month mark. It can be worth a try. Tell them you want to use QS as your main spending card but the limit makes it impractical. That's basically what I told them and it worked out!

Don't over worry yourself about AAOA. It is truly an overblown thing. The accounts stay on your report for an entire decade anyway. You will have almost certainly aged many other accounts by then. No reason to keep cards you don't want (especially QS1 with it's annual fee, IMO is completely stupid to keep when you have a regular no AF QS now).

If they decided to look at my spending history, they'd know I was lying. I probably average about $100 a month spending across all cards. Right now I'm desperately trying to figure out something to spend $500 on so I can scarf up on the $100 statement credit from the NFL Extra Points card I just got. Smiley Very Happy

LOL so true...

Only reason I have 2 QS One cards is because they won't let me transfer limits.
