Does anyone know if Discover processes balance transfers electronically? Or do they always do it via mail?
I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong forum.

In my experience Discover has the option of electronic direct deposit. But you can also receive a paper check.

A balance transfer to Capital One would most likely be done electronically, right?

Yes.
Discover also told me if I do a BT they'll first try via "wire" (electronically) and if the bank being paid doesn't allow it (or it just can't be done that way) they'll issue a check via the mail.

I just put in for a BT yesterday with Discover and the rep's advice was to do exactly that. If my other card came out due, just pay it and they'd just refund me eventually.
