Every time I log onto my PP account I get the message to apply, we'll give you a decision in 10 seconds, etc etc. I have gotten this every time. Recently my DH and I got what is deemed a promotional email about applying for this card. Now my DH has an account but has never used it, he never got the little ad whenever he logged into his. But after getting this email, now he gets it.
I know that nothing is guaranteed, and nothing is 100%, but wondering if this is a good sign so to speak that approval is likely. My scores are between 600-625. I do have some old medical baddies 2+ years old and have gotten some new lines since the beginning of the year, the biggest being Discover IT ($500), and NFCU ($4000). I could use this card pretty well, but as with everyone I like to try and guard my INQ strongly.
Just wondering and THANKS!!
Also, if this is my 3rd post regarding this I apologize, it doesn't look like my post is "sticking", at least on my end
I used to have the PayPal MC, so here's my thoughts: I dont think it has strict underwriting. My gut tells me you should get it, but there might be an outside chance you might get rejected for that and end up with the non MC Paypal card which is kind of useless. The good thing about this card is they are generous with CLI's and the rewards, while nerfed, can still get you around 2.3% back on gas/restaurants. The bad things are the high interest rate, the really confusing PP interface, and the fact that PP/GE takes the money out of your bank account minutes after the payment, yet sometimes doesn't credit the account until a week later. It is a little quicker if you have money in your pay pal account and pay off your card that way.
I had the message to apply on my account, and received several emails. Applied twice with some negatives still on TU and was denied both times. Once TU was clean, I was approved. If you don't have collection/charge off/public records, or recent lates, I'd say chances are pretty good.
I quite like my PayPal MC. It gives around 2.5% back at resteraunts which is the best I have in that category and I eat out nearly every day so for me it is an excellent card and one of my highest limits. When I got mine my scores were up in the 680s, but I do have 4 paid state tax liens on my CR. Some lenders don;t like the tax liens while other seem to ignore them so idk, but I had to call credit solutions and recon to get approved.

As with any such offer it really doesn't mean much, It's just marketing. Apply for what you need when you think your credit is in the best shape possible for a given timeframe. Don't just repond to marketing.

Everyone doesn't guard their inquiries despite how it may seem from reading myFICO threads. Those that are building and rebuilding tend to because inquiries tend to have a bigger impact on their credit. Thicker and better established profiles can generally handle inquiries better.

I think you mind find yourself with a PayPal Store Card not the MasterCard if you apply now... I think you really need to be above 650 for the MC to start approving... I was around 662 when mine was approved for $2k

but if that happens you can get PP Debit MC and link the account and still get rewards, at least I do
