Question about Pre-approvals vs Offers

I've been hitting up the pre-approval pages on Amex, WF, BoA, USBank, and Cp1 -- ignored Chase as I'm over 5/24.

Question: should I expect that they will eventually send a mailer with an offer (or an email)? I get lots since I "opted" back in, but its been exclusively sub-prime bank cards, except for WF with 3 mailers, 2 emails, and numerous pop-ups on ATM, and accont page for the Active Cash. I actually want it, but figure with my HPs I maybe have one shot before I have to garden at least into mid-summer to let the last set of HP age to a year. I REALLY want an AMEX card for some expected travel early next year and next summer, and am hoping maybe after a bump in my FICO it will be worth taking a shot.

Thoughts, advice, experience?

Are you prequalified on any of the sites? If so, AMEX and Cap 1 are known to be be pretty solid if you are. BOA is strictly marketing. I'm not sure about WF.

Oh, they all offered priducts, especially BoA. I'd feel better with a envelope full of fine print though. But not sure if they all even do that anymore though.

As mentioned with BofA, unless you're seeing an account offer while logged in to your existing BofA account online and it's under OFFERS, you are just seeing marketing...you'll note that the BofA wording says "We recommend x for you" and then Apply Now.  BofA is purely "recommendations" unless noted/presented as I mentioned.

They do still send out mailers, but honestly, I've rarely got mailers for the card specific card I want. For instance, I get mailers from AMEX almost weekly, but I never got one for the BCP, which was the card I wanted. The same is true with Citi, Chase, and other lenders. Every online prequal DW, my family members, and I have gotten from AMEX, Cap 1, Discover were all approved. Citi, BOA, NFCU, FBNO, and others online prequals have been known to be unreliable.
If nothing has drastically changed in your profile lately, I really believe you'd be safe to go that AMEX card you want.
