Question about Slate

Slate is AWESOME for BT's but the 0% is time limited, and the BT zero fee is even shorter (60x).  Do people normally just SD the card after paying it off (what I'd call a "disposable" card) or does Slate throw out similar promos from time to time so that you could use the card again for a BT free of fees?

FICO: EQ 814 | TU 847 | EX ? (Started in the low 500's... you can do it!)

Amex BCE $25000, Amex AP $20000, SFFCU Visa $15000 + LOC $5000, USAA Amex $6000, USAA MC $7000, Cap1 $9500, Freedom $12000, Slate $500, Barclays "RIP" SM $11500, USBank Cash+ $12500, Citi Diamond $11200, Citi Double Cash $12000, Care Credit $13500k.

Re: Question about Slate

Yes, most people SD the card for the life of the BT. I've never had a single promo from Slate offered to me. I will close it after I've paid off my BT.

Re: Question about Slate

I actually closed my slate last month and transferred the credit line to my Freedom card.

However, just yesterday I got some checks to use for 0% APR balance transfers. So it does seem from time to time they offer promotions.

Interesting. Maybe they send these out to people who have a 0 balance on the cards. It would make sense if that was the case. Thanks for the additional info!

This is what I plan to do when I finish paying down the balance that i transferred to the Slate.  Will be nice to get the Freedom up to 6500, especially since I do not need the Slate if it isn't doing anything for me.

$18000 Discover IT / $6000 Chase Freedom / $5000 DCU Visa / $3900 Fifth Third / $2500 Capital One Quicksilver / $2000 AMEX Blue Cash Everyday / $500 Chase Slate

Yeah, as a point of reference I finished paying off the Slate on February of this year. I had been carrying a balance with the initial 0% APR offer. Closed/transferred the credit line in April and for some reason I still got the balance transfer promo yesterday (I also got the same promotion for my Southwest card this week).

Does anyone have any experience with getting another 0% bt offer from the slate card AFTER using the initial BT offer from them?

Re: Question about Slate

After the promo period I just closed it and moved the limit to my CSP. The card to me, is basically useless after the 0% BT expires
