I have a question on what triggers a "Pre-Qual" offer. One day I saw that I pre-qual for 4 different Chase Cards and the next day those offers vanished. Does this happen often?
I too would like to know this question. I am 3 1/2 months into my first Chase card and haven't seen a single prequal pop up.
Pre-qualfied offers are weird. Just because you see pre-qual offers assuming they're reliable like AMEX and Chase doesn't necessairly guarantee approval, and also just because you didn't see any doesn't mean you can't cold app and get approved regardless. Basically it's a YMMV situation as far as I'm concerned.
In the end it's always best to look at your credit profile and if it supports it then get the card you want whether it popped on the pre-qual page or not. Don't limit yourself that way when you should get the card that best suits your spending needs.
I get "pre-quals" for everything from Citi DC, BOA Alaska, Home Depot and Amex Delta to Merrick, Credit One and some cr@p card called Verve (With THIRTY PERCENT interest! The nerve of some lenders! ).
I think I'm right on the border of 2 different marketing scores. (Fico 8's between 690-715.)
